Kajola: The first Nigerian Sci-fi movie premiers this july

We first heard about “Kajola” in late 2009 and the first thing we though was “hmm, different!”. Creating a Nigerian Sci-Fi movie is not an easy task, we have seen a few attempts in the past and though we respect the creativity and effort that went into it, they still fell short of their international counterparts.

Synopsis: Kajola is the Yoruba word for commonwealth. In the year 2059, Nigeria becomes a totalitarian state. After a second civil war, the rich relocate to the Island areas of Lagos state and turn it into an ultra modern city. The war torn mainland of lagos state is disconnected and abandoned.
A rebel leader, Allen learns of a plot code named kajola to build cities on the mainland and eliminate the remaining survivors. He leads a rebellion against the government and must be stopped by Yetunde, the police chief. Though mortal enemies, both discover that everything they thought they knew was nothing but lies. It’s a story of love and lust and it heightens the fact that if we don’t deal with the segregation and negligence issues facing the country today, then our future is quite predictable because TOMORROW IS TODAY.

According to the producers of this movie, “Kajola is the upcoming revolutionary action movie…Complete with stunning Hollywood style visual effects!” The movie is directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and produced by Adonis Production with visual effects by Anthill.
The movie stars a crop of new actors such as Adonijah Owiriwa and Keira Hewatch alongside Nollywood star, Desmond Elliot.
The movie will premiere in Lagos on the 30th of July 2010 and will show in cinemas around the country. There are also plans to take the movie around the world via film festivals and premieres.

Spain advances to the world cup final by beating troublesome germany

The World Cup will have a new winner on Sunday after Spain beat Germany 1-0 to set up a mouthwatering clash with the Netherlands.

Spain's hero was Barcelona defender Carles Puyol as his 73rd minute header secured his country's first ever World Cup final.

Puyol rose highest to power Xavi's corner into the net and hand Spain a deserved victory.

Vicente del Bosque's team dominated possession against their opponents and should have won by a more convincing score line but they couldn't convert their chances.

Sea monster found in peruvian desert

Researchers scanning the Peruvian desert for whale fossils have stumbled upon the remains of a "sea monster" three times the size of a modern day killer whale.

The teeth of "Leviathan Melvillei" were so large it was initially assumed they were elephant tusks.

"There were no elephants in South America before 3 million years ago, and the specimens found have an age of 12 to 15 million years, so that was impossible," said Professor Jelle Reumer, one of the team of scientists who found the fossil in the Pisco-Ica desert in coastal Peru.

They had been searching for other types of whale fossils in a remote area some 300 kilometers south of Lima. "The place where we found it was 20 kilometers from the nearest village," said Reumer, who is also director of Natural History Museum in Rotterdam.

Strong winds had shifted sand to expose a three-meter long fossilized skull, around three times the skull length of a modern day killer whale. The skull of the blue whale, the largest animal ever known to have existed, was around six meters long.
